BCCI releases Rs one crore for cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad's treatment

Several former Indian cricketers, including former India captain Kapil Dev and dashing player Sandeep Patil, had appealed to the BCCI to help Gaekwad.

Apparently heeding to the calls to help former Indian test cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad, who is battling cancer and currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in London, the BCCI has released rs one crore to help the cricketer.

Several former Indian cricketers, including former India captain Kapil Dev and dashing player Sandeep Patil, had appealed to the BCCI to help Gaekwad.

In a statement, the Board said that BCCI secretary Jay Shah had directed to immediately release rs one crore for Anshuman Gaekwad's treatment and assured that the Board would continue to monitor his condition.

It also said that Shah had spoken to Gaekwad's family to take stock of his health and assured all possible help to him.

Gaekwad has played 40 tests and 15 one day matches for the country between 1975 and 1987.
