Kanpur: Surpassing the record of legendary bowlers Waqar Younis and Dennis Lillee, Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Sunday became the second bowler in the history to claim fastest 200 Test wickets.

Ashwin reached the milestone while playing his 37th test match and ahead of him is only Australian leg spinner Clarrie Grimmett who claimed his first 200 wickets in 36 matches.

Ashwin took his 200th wicket in form of Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson during the match against New Zealand at the Green Park stadium in Kanpur.

Pakistan’s Waqar Younis and Australian pacer Dennis Lillee took 200 wickets in 38 matches.

Meanwhile, India has set a mammoth target of 434 runs against New Zealand.

Kiwis have come on the back-foot as they have lost 4 wickets by scoring just 93 runs on day 4.
