Lucknow: Describing presidential candidature of Ram Nath Kovid as a monumental decision of BJP-led NDA, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said it was most deserved for Dalits and the principle of Samajik Samrasta.

Talking to media at an impromptu press conference at his official residence, the UP CM said by doing so the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah paid utmost respect to the Dalits of the country. Ram Nath Kovid, a Dalit by caste, is presently the Governor of Bihar and official candidate of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the post of the President of India.

Yogi said the state of Uttar Pradesh would ever be indebted to PM and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president for this choice. It may be mentioned that Kovid belongs to Uttar Pradesh. He sought support of all the parties for the candidature of Kovid, saying it would further strengthen the social consciousness in the country.

During eight-minute press conference, the UP CM praised Prime Minister Modi profusely and said that the entire state of Uttar Pradesh would be grateful to him for this decision.
