‘Yatras’ galore in poll bound Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh
The BJP, which was the principal opposition party in Rajasthan, launched in its ‘Parivartan Sankalp Yatra’ a few days back during which senior leaders of the party will be traversing the length and breadth of the desert state and address public meetings.
With the assembly polls in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh barely two months away, the political players have embarked upon ‘Yatras’ to connect to the electorate and reach out to them with their promises and achievements.
The BJP, which was the principal opposition party in Rajasthan, launched in its ‘Parivartan Sankalp Yatra’ a few days back during which senior leaders of the party will be traversing the length and breadth of the desert state and address public meetings.
In the poll bound Madhya Pradesh also, the BJP has embarked upon a ‘Jan Ashirvad Yatra’ which will traverse throughout the state. Almost all senior leaders of the party will be taking part in the ‘Yatra’, according to the BJP sources in Bhopal. BJP is the ruling party in MP.
Now the Congress has also decided to follow BJP and take out a state wide ‘yatra’ in Madhya Pradesh ahead of the next assembly poll, which is due to be held in November/December this year, MP Congress leaders said.
Congress has named its proposed ‘Yatra’, which will begin from September 15, as ‘Jan Akrosh Yatra’, the leaders added.
The decision to undertake the ‘yatra’ was taken at a meeting of the state election committee of the party at Bhopal. Seven senior leaders of the party from the state-Kanti Lal Bhuria, leader of the Congress party in the MP assembly Govind Singh, senior leaders Jeetu Patwari, Ajay Singh Rahul and Arun Yadav will be flagging off the ‘yatra’ from different places, sources said.
‘’Yatras are considered better than any other contact program….they enable the parties to reach out to the electorate quickly and in an effective way…they are also comparatively cheaper that other campaigning methods,’’ said a Rajasthan based media analyst.
The analyst also said that the ‘yatras’ had yielded rich electoral dividends to the parties in the past.
