Sushma Swaraj was born in Haryana's Ambala Cantt area in 1952.
She started her political career in 1977 and was elected MLA from Haryana. In 1990, she was elected to the Rajya Sabha and since then she has been a member of Parliament either in the Upper House or the Lower House.
Sushma Swaraj was first appointed as Cabinet Minister in 1996 and she also held the post of Delhi Chief Minister for a short period in 1998.
