Unnao Police detains SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav at Lko-Agra Expressway

Unnao: Former Uttar pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party minister Akhilesh Yadav was detained on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, on Thursday, while he was on his way to join the protest rally here.

The expressway was barricaded by the police to prevent the Samajwadi Party chief from proceeding towards Auraiya and when Akhilesh's carcade came to a halt by the barricades, the police detained him.

Akhilesh was however, escorted to a guest house in Hasanganj area of Unnao after his detention.

It is to be mentioned that the former UP CM en-routed to Auraiya where the workers were allegedly protesting against the police partiality and turned violent over not being allowed to accompany their candidate for the Zila panchayat chairpersons post to the nomination room at the Collectorate.

It is to be recalled that some SP leaders were also detained on Wednesday last following the scuffle between them and the police.
