Lucknow: Denouncing comments made by some party workers at a protest rally against the wife and daughter of expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh, BSP MLAs Romi Sahani and Brijesh Verma have accused Mayawati of selling party tickets.

“She can become the Prime Minister of India if she stops selling party tickets. Slogans raised during the protest were selected by the party,” they said while addressing a press conference in Lucknow on Wednesday.

“Last time we did not have to pay the money for tickets because of Jugal Kishor and we had not cross voted in the elections of Rajya Sabha and Vidhan Parishad,” they added.

Demanded Rs 5 crore for party ticket:

The MLAs alleged that they were called for a meeting on July 6 last at the resident of party chief where senior party leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui demanded Rs 5 crore for the Palia Vidhan Sabha seat while the rate for Mallawa Vidhan Sabha seat was Rs 4 crore. They were threatened that the ticket would be given to other candidate when they expressed their inability to give money.
