Tharoor accuses PMO of barring his entry in Padhmanabhaswamy Temple

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, on Wednesday alleged that he was barred from entering into Padhmanabhaswamy temple due to Prime Minister's visit to the holy shrine.

In a tweet, Tharoor attacked the PM's office and wrote that his name was removed from the list of people who can stay at the temple during the PM's visit.

Tharoor, who is the lawmaker in Kerala, said that because of Narendra Modi, he was not allowed to enter the temple. This act of the PMO has made him quite upset.

Tharoor told media that Narendra Modi was present at the temple to launch the 'Swadesh Darshan Project' where Tharoor welcomed Modi. After the launch, he and some local politicians, party MLAs and MPs were denied entry into the temple as they were told that the PMO has stroked their names out from the list of people that could be present during the PM's visit.

Before entering the shrine, PM Modi launched the Project which was attended by Shashi Tharoor and Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. However, later in the day, the two were denied the entry in the temple while Modi was offering prayers inside.

Governor Justice P Sathasivam and the state temple body minister Kadakampally Surendran accompanied PM Modi inside the temple.

He said that he left the temple premises as he didn't want to be a decorative piece and treated as an unwanted guest.

Tharoor is known for his vicious remarks at BJP. Modi government has always been under his radar and he openly criticizes its policies.
