New Delhi: United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi is all prepared to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls again from her seat, Raebareli, putting aside all the speculations about her retirement from electoral politics due to poor health, as per party sources.

A formal announcement on Mrs Gandhi’s renomination from her constituency is expected early next month, said a party source.

Mrs Gandhi, 72, has been representing Raebareli since 2004.

The rumors of Mrs. Gandhi taking a break from electoral politics came after Congress fielded Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as the General Secretary of eastern Uttar Pradesh. It was speculated that Sonia might make way for her daughter.

Priyanka Gandhi, however, said she would not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and would instead focus on the organisation of Congress and win the 2022 polls in Uttar Pradesh.
