New Delhi: Leaving the whole nation in shock, former external affairs minister, Sushma Swaraj passed away on Tuesday night, suffering a cardiac arrest at AIIMS, Delhi.

The sudden demise of the senior BJP leader left everyone perplexed and in deep grief. Remembering the politician, senior advocate Harish Salve, who represented India in Kulbushan Jadhav case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) shared Sushma Swaraj's call to him just before her death.

Sushma was in a healthy state and was active in the politics when she suddenly suffered a cardiac arrest and upon reaching AIIMS was declared brought dead by doctors around 9 pm.

The politician had not only congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on abrogation of Article 370 via her official twitter handle at 7:23 but also called advocate Harish Salve, talking to him briefly about Jadhav's case and asking him to meet her on Wednesday to collect his Rs. 1 fees at 8:50 pm.

"I spoke to her at 8.50 pm and, in fact, it was a very emotional conversation. She said you have to come and meet me, I have to give you Re 1 for the case which you won. I had to go and to collect the precious fee. She asked me to come tomorrow at 6 o’clock. She said ‘come and meet me tomorrow’," Salve said.

Salve, one of the top lawyers in India, represented India in the case pertaining to Indian national Kulbushan Jadhav, who was sentenced to death by the Pakistani military court on charges of "espionage and terrorism."

The senior lawyer recalled his "emotional conversation" with Swaraj and expressed sorrow over her death and called her death a huge loss. “She was such a tall leader and a fine leader. She stood for everything,” he added.
