There is no political emergency in UP: Ram Naik

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik has sought clarification from Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for inaction over the recommendations of Lokayukta with regards to corruption charges against several former ministers, public representatives and bureaucrats.

Governor shot off another letter to the Chief Minister containing names of 9 former ministers, one MLA, 3 directors (Nagar Palika / Nagar Panchayat) and 40 bureaucrats. He wanted to know why the action has not been taken and the state legislature was duly informed in this regard.

Few former ministers from the Mayawati led UP government are on the radar of the Lokayukta. The names include: Awadhpal Singh Yadav, Ramvir Upadhyay, Badshah Singh, Ramachal Rajbhar, Rajesh Tripathi, Ayodhya Prasad Pal, Ratan Lal Ahirvar, Naseemuddin Siddiqui and Swami Prasad Maurya (Now a BJP Minister).

Governor Ram Naik had on August 12 sent recommendations of the Lokayukta to the CM and sought a reply about the action taken over these representatives who are alleged of corruption.

Governor also sought clarifications in the matter from the state chief minister and chief secretary.

In the letter penned to the CM of the state, governor Ram Naik has mentioned that under section 12(7) of the Lokayukta Act, state government has given clarification in just two recommendations out of the 53 sent to it.
