Rahul Gandhi sued for his 'sexist' comments on Nirmala Sitharaman

New Delhi: Congress President Rahul Gandhi has landed himself into a heated controversy after his offensive and sexist comments on Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman surfaced in media.

The NCW (National Commission for Women) issued a notice to him over his unethical comments against the Defence Minister.

Earlier on Wednesday, Rahul had commented that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had got a woman to defend him on the Rafale deal. Over two and a half hours of debate, the woman too could not defend the PM and was unable to answer his questions over the burning issue.

Taking note of the media reports, the NCW issued a notice to the Congress chief, saying his comments were "extremely offensive and misogynistic and directly attacked the honour and dignity of women".

Hours later, Modi responded to the comments saying that they are disrespectful and hurt the sentiments of women of the entire nation.
