New Delhi: After accusing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi of corruption, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday, decided to hit the streets to highlight the pain of people post the Centre's demonetisation move.

Rahul announced his decision during a meeting of all-party MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha along with senior Congress leaders.

What Rahul Gandhi said?

  • Sources from the party quoted Rahul Gandhi as saying, "The demonetisation move by PM Narendra Modi is in actual a strike on poor and eventually on entire economy."
  • Gandhi said that the scrapping of old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes have opened way for black money holders to illegally convert it into white through new notes.
  • Gandhi said that the move has mostly affected the farmers and poor.
  • He said, "I and other Congress MPs will reach to people to know their pain after the demonetisation move announced by the Centre on Nov 8."

Earlier in the day, Rahul attacked Modi by saying that he had information about "personal corruption" involving the prime minister.
