Rahul Gandhi alleges Kejriwal's involvement in Bhatinda blasts

Sangrur: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of supporting the forces that are willing to disrupt peace in Punjab.

The Congress scion made the comments just two days before Punjab is scheduled to go for polls, during a rally in Ballian village in Sangrur district. Through his rally, Rahul Gandhi is trying to woo the voters of the Malwa region that has 69 seats out of a total of 117 seats in the assembly.

He warned the voters of the state to beware of AAP as their leaders and radical Sikh groups will hijack the progressive agenda of Punjab.

He also claimed that the twin blasts at Maur Mandi in Bhatinda which killed at least six people on Tuesday night were a chilling reminder of the black days in the northern state.

"The atmosphere of the place where you live is the most important thing. In case the atmosphere gets spoiled, violence erupts or anger prevails, then the work of farmers, labourers, weaker sections suffers, that leads the entire state to a suffering situation," Gandhi said.

"The perpetrators of the blasts have the backing of Arvind Kejriwal. He has paved way for them to contest the elections. This is very dangerous for Punjab. If these elements gain strength in Punjab, then it will hijack all the development issues," stated Rahul Gandi during the rally.

Apart from the Congress, the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has also accused the AAP of involvement in the blasts. Retaliating to the SAD's allegations, the Aam Aadmi Party has sought for 'interrogation' of deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
