Lucknow: Heading for his fresh innings, cricketer Praveen Kumar on Sunday joined the Samajwadi Party. He took his decision of entering politics after meeting with the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.

What Praveen said?

• I am happy to join Samajwadi Party.

• Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has done a lot for the sportsmen. He himself keeps a sportsmen spirit.

• I will give my best for the betterment of people.

When asked whether he would contest the state assembly polls, Praveen Kumar said:

• I am new in this field with no knowledge.

• I will first try to learn politics.
