UP Polls: Campaign for phase 4 ends; 680 candidates across 12 districts in fray

Lucknow: The campaign for the fourth phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections ended on Tuesday with a total of 680 candidates including 61 women in the fray for 53 assembly constituencies, spread across 12 districts.

The 12 districts include Congress President Sonia Gandhi's constituency Rae Bareli, Allahabad, Pratapgarh, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Banda, Hamirpur, Chitrakoot and Fatehpur.

The polling for the fourth phase election will take place on February 23.

Local strongman Akhilesh Singh's daughter Aditi Singh is contesting from Rae Bareli on Congress ticket.

Rahul Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi have addressed a rally here in support of Aditi Singh.

It may be mentioned that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had addressed a rally in Rae Bareli on Monday where he took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP.

He, without naming Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, urged him to not campaign for the "donkeys" from Gujarat.
