Amethi: The microphone at a public meeting being addressed by Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi in Amethi on Friday was switched of by the district administration, citing moral code of conduct in force due to Vidhan Parishad eelections.

Rahul, however, flayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for "suppressing" his voice. "Everywhere my voice is being suppressed at the Prime Minister's behest but I will continue to raise issues of public concern," the Congress Vice-President said at the meeting in the Soochi village.

The local police had requested him to shut down his microphone in view of the moral code of conduct.

What Rahul Gandhi said:

  • Inflation is increasing with each passing day.
  • My family has been patriotic and has made sacrifices for the country.
  • Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) cannot teach me patriotism.
  • Rahul is on a two-day visit to his parliamentary constituency, Amethi.
