Not expressway, UPiites aspire for a bullet train: Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow: Acting like a gracious loser, the outgoing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi President Akhilesh Yadav, after a crushing defeat, said that he hopes the new state government will keep up the promises it made to the people.

"We gave Agra-Lucknow expressway to the people but they probably are looking for a bullet train," said Akhilesh while addressing a press conference at his residence on Saturday.

When asked about the allegations made by the BSP supremo Mayawati over tampering with the EVM's, he said if she finds EVM's faulty, a probe should be ordered in this regard. "I will also see if there was EVM manipulation". he added.

When asked about his uncle and senior party leader Shivpal Yadav's 'ego' remark, Akhilesh said, "You all (media persons) are aware of my behaviour. Maybe he (Shivpal) was talking to my shadow."

What else Akhilesh Yadav said

  • There was no problemwith the SP-Congress alliance.
  • I am happy that the two young leaders have come together.
  • The alliance with Congress will continue.
  • I will first analyse the reasons for defeat and only then take the responsibility.
