Centre appoints Najma Heptulla as Governor of poll-bound Manipur

New Delhi: Former Union Minister Najma Heptulla on Wednesday appointed as the Governor of poll-bound Manipur. She had resigned from her cabinet post during the last reshuffle after crossing 75 years of age.

Along with Najma Heptulla, the Centre has appointed BJP leader Jagdish Mukhi as the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

V P Singh Badnore and Banwarilal Purohit are appointed as the Governors of Punjab and Assam respectively.

Meanwhile, speculations are rife that the Centre will also announce the name of Tamil Nadu governor, but it has been kept under the wraps.
