Amethi: After the Supreme Court's verdict on Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, the Samajwadi Party Patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav has decided not to campaign for the SP assembly candidate.

A letter was issued by the Samajwadi Party to the Amethi District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police in which it was mentioned that Mulayam Singh Yadav has cancelled his visit to Amethi due to certain obligations.

The letter is undersigned by, Gangaram, the Personal Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and National President of the party Akhilesh Yadav.

It is worth mentioning that Prajapati is an accused of being involved in the gang-rape of a woman and has also allegedly molested the woman's daughter.

The Uttar Pradesh CM, however, had visited Amethi to campaign for the transport minister of UP and the party candiadte from Amethi assembly constituency of the district, despite the orders of SC asking to lodge FIR against him in the case.

The four constituencies of the Amethi district will go to polls in the fifth phase of the assembly elections on February 27 and the results will be declared on March 11.

Mulayam Singh Yadav's name was included in the list of the start campaigners of the party, in the top most priority.
