Mulayam prevails over his leaders to send Amar Singh to RS

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav prevailed over his party leaders to include the name of Amar Singh in the list of Rajya Sabha candidates from Uttar Pradesh. The list of seven Rajya Sabha candidates for 11 seats was released by state party general secretary Shiv Pal Singh Yadav which included Beni Prasad Verma also.

The list has Amar Singh ,Beni Prasad Verma, Reoti Raman Singh, Sukhram Singh Yadav , Vishmabhar Prasad Nishad, builder Sanjay Seth and Arvind Pratap Singh as candidates for Rajya Sabha.

He also declared the list of eight candidates for 13 seats of UP Vidhan Parishad which includes names of Balram Yadav,Shatrudra Prasad, Jaswant Singh,Bukkal Nawab, Ram Sunder Das Nishad,Jagjivan Prasad, Kamlesh Pathak and Ranvijay Singh, Gonda.

The decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of central parliamentary Board headed by Mulayam Singh yadav who was authorised by the party to take final decision with regards to candidates for Rajya Sabha and Vidhan Parishad.

Apart from Mulayam Singh Yadav,the UP Chief Minister and state SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav, SP General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav and Kironmoy Nanda and senior party leaders and ministers Shiv Pal Singh Yadav and Mohd Azam Khan also attended the meeting here at the party headquarters.

Ram Gopal and Azam opposed Amar:

  • The senior party leaders Ram Gopal Yadav and Mohd Azam Khan did not seem convinced over Amar Singh ‘s name for Rajya Sabha, according to sources.
  • Both the leaders had never shy of being critical of Aamr Singh publicly.
  • Sources said that CM Akhilesh maintained a neutral position on the issue.

Mulayam authorised:

  • The Board had authorised Mulayam Singh Yadav as the Party chief to take final decision in selection of candidates for RS and Council.
  • He will soon issue a list of candidates, the SP leaders said.

The SP candidates chances in RS and Council:

  • As per the party’s strength, the SP is in position to win seven Rajya Sabha and eight Legislative Council seats.
  • The meeting ,though, discussed long list of candidates for these seats.

Shiv Pal Singh Yadav, in reply to a question, said that joining of Amar Singh in the party would be decided by Mulayam singh Yadav himself. He also parried query on Jayaprada's Rs berth saying it was up to the party President to take a final call.
