Samajwadi Party has included Sibakatullah Ansari, elder brother of Uttar Pradesh mafia don Mukhtar Ansari, in the party. Sibakatullah joined the party in the presence of former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Mukhtar Ansari had contested the last Legislative Assembly election on a BSP ticket and won. Mukhtar Ansari and his brother MP Afzal Ansari are still in BSP.
