At a press conference in Mumbai, Jaiveer Shergill slammed PM Modi for invoking Article 370 while campaigning in Maharashtra and said, "Mein apne rajya sarkar ke gunaho jo kuch aise dho deta hu... janta ke beech meinn jaakar 370 ka rona ro deta hu. (I am hiding the shortcomings of my party by invoking Article 370)".

Shergill further added, "PM Modi is talking about Article 370 but we will talk about 70. Why is the CM of Maharashtra not talking about rising prices of petrol, diesel, and onion? Onions are being sold above Rs 70 per kg. Let them talk about Article 370 which is a matter of [Jammu and] Kashmir elections. We will talk about 70".

Congress spokesperson RPN Singh also attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party for failing to provide relief to Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative Bank (PMC) customers.

"PM Modi didn't say anything on bank scams during his Maharashtra visit. CM Fadnavis doesn't speak on the economic slowdown. He is posting fabricated videos of Rahul Gandhi. Why isn't the government helping in the restructuring of PMC bank? This government took Rs 1.76 lakh crore from the Reserve Bank of India but can't ask them to help the PMC bank? Fadnavis is saying his hands are tied. But there is no code of conduct on RBI," he said.

Shergill also added that the law minister should stop discussing business by movies and focus on the economic slowdown. "Will he be opening cinema halls in place of automobile manufacturing units which are on the verge of shutting down?" asked Shergill.

The Congress spokespersons also spoke about unemployment, falling manufacturing growth, shifting key projects from Maharashtra to other states and farmer suicide.

When questioned on their absence from campaign, Singh stated that the senior Congress leaders will be campaigning in Maharashtra. He further added that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been given the responsibility of by-elections in Uttar Pradesh.
