Modi in Meerut: BJP has shown courage for surgical strike in all spheres

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched the BJP's campaign in western Uttar Pradesh, saying his government had shown the courage to conduct a surgical strike in all spheres -- land, sky and space.

The contest is between a "a decisive government and an indecisive past", Modi said in his address to a rally in this western Uttar Pradesh town a day after announcing that India had demonstrated anti-satellite missile capability by shooting down a live satellite.

-PM Modi has concluded his address in Meerut, UP. His next rally is later today in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand.

-On the one side there is a strong 'chowkidar', on the other, a line of tainted people, the prime minister said.

-"India has made up its mind who to vote for," he told the rally.

-"I will give an account of my work, but at the same time seek an account from my opponents... a 'chowkidar' does no injustice," he said.

-Modi attacked opposition for asking proof of Pulwama attack by asking the public if they want "Saboot" or "Sapoot", "Kya humein saboot chahiye ya sapoot chahiye? Mere desh ke sapoot hi mere desh ke sabse bada saboot hai. Jo saboot maangte hain woh sapoot ko lalkaarte hain."

-Taking a shot at Congress’ poll promise of introducing minimum income guarantee, PM Modi has said that those who failed to provide bank accounts for the poor are now talking about putting money in those bank accounts.

-“There is nothing greater than power for these people,” the prime minister added.

-Our Air Force had asked for new aircrafts but they ignored their requests. They never provided bulletproof jackets. They did not allow our scientists to test the anti-satellite missile: PM Modi

-PM Modi has praised CM Yogi Adityanath for his work. The prime minister has said that since UP CM Adityanath took over, there have been no goons in the state and women are safe.

-PM Modi has attacked the Opposition alliance in Uttar Pradesh saying, “If this Mahamilawat alliance get an opportunity then things will get bad for the country.”

-PM Modi has said that the reason he is beginning his campaign from Meerut as the struggle for India’s independence started there in 1857.

-Modi began his speech by paying tribute to Choudhary Charan Singh, former prime minister and father of RLD leader Ajit Singh who has aligned with the BSP and the SP in this election.
