Mayawati berates BJP and RSS for their anti-reservation mentality

Lucknow: Continue to upbraid BJP, the Bhaujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati on Monday blamed the saffron party for functioning under 'anti-reservationist' mentality and warned against fiddling with 50 per cent quota for Sc, St and OBC as provided by the Constitution.

''The BSP favours the retention of existing reservation provisions coupled with reservation to economically weaker from upper caste and minority through constitutional amendement,'' the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said in a statement issued in the national capital on Monday. The BSP had been demanding constitutional amendment in this regard since long, she added.

Rapping Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh(RSS) along with Bharatiya Janata Party for misleading the people on the issue of reservation , she particularly singled out the remarks of BJP President Amit Shah in an interview saying he and his party were trying to change the narration on reservation. '' BSP will not accept any change in the existing quota while favours the additional provisions for poor of upper caste and minority,'' she asserted while castigating the BJP and Congress for failing to cater to poor of all the sections of the society.

Suugesting BJP to come out from the anti-reservation mode, Mayawati said that BJP required to change its perception about reservation and expedite the filling up of vacant posts in the government and effective implementation of reservation in promotions beside ensuring it in the private sector.
