FIR lodged against Keshav Maurya for violating Model Code of Conduct

Allahabad: While the state is all set for the fifth phase of polling, another case of violating model code of conduct has came to light.

An FIR has been lodged against the Bharatiya Janata Party state president Keshav Prasad Maurya by the Election Commission officer Mahendra Kumar Rai.

Rai has alleged Maurya of wearing a Bharatiya Janata Party badge to the polling booth when he went to cast his vote on Thursday last.

What Keshav Prasad Maurya said?

  • I apologize for the mistake. It happened as I forgot to remove the badge from my clothes.
  • It is in my habit to wear the badge everywhere I go.
  • I would respect whatever the decision would be taken.

He had casted his vote in the fourth phase of the elections on February 23 in Allahabad.
