New Delhi: There was a meeting between former Madhya Pradesh (MP) Chief Minister Kamal Nath and Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday. During that time there were reports that Kamal Nath could be made the working president of the party.

Kamal Nath on becoming Party President:

However, now the senior Congress leader himself has denied these reports. He has said that these things are nonsense and he keeps meeting Sonia Gandhi on issues related to the party. He informed that during this the ongoing tension in Punjab Congress was discussed.

In a conversation with a Media House, he said, 'The talk of me becoming the Congress President is nonsense. I keep meeting Sonia Gandhi and have been discussing issues related to the party. Apart from this, it was also being said that through this meeting, the Congress is looking for an alliance formula for the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

There was news of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also attending this meeting.

Kamal Nath shuts the buzz:

Kamal Nath is considered close to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. During the meeting of Kamal Nath and Sonia Gandhi, there was news that the party is preparing to make Navjot Singh Sidhu as the President of Punjab Congress.

Discussions have been going on for a long time in the Congress regarding change in leadership. The last elections in the organization were held in the year 1997. According to the report, elections for the Congress President and members of the Congress Working Committee can be announced soon at the organization level. A few months ago, members of the group called G-23 had written a letter to Sonia Gandhi regarding the change in leadership of the party.
