New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Chief Kamal Nath announced as the chief minister of the newly-elected Congress government in the state. Sources close to Congress party said that there will not be a Deputy Chief Minister in the state.

The decision comes after Congress President Rahul Gandhi had a meeting with both the probable candidates - Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia in New Delhi.

Rahul Gandhi had posted a photo of Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia along with a caption 'the two most powerful warriors are patience and time'.

Who is Kamal Nath?

Born in Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh to businessman father Mahendra Nath and mother Leela, Nath is an alumnus of the prestigious Doon School (at Dehradun in Uttarakhand). He did his graduation from St Xavier's college, Kolkata, before taking the plunge into politics.

Kamal Nath is one of the longest serving and senior most members of Lok Sabha. He represents the Chhindwara constituency of Madhya Pradesh.

He married Alka Nath on 27 January 1973 and has two sons.
