Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and chief minister-designate Hemant Soren took oath as 11th CM of Jharkhand at 2 pm on Sunday. Three other ministers, one from JMM and another from Congress, were sworn-in along with Hemant Soren.

Lucknow: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and chief minister-designate Hemant Soren took oath as 11th CM of Jharkhand at 2 pm on Sunday. Three other ministers, one from JMM and another from Congress, were sworn-in along with Hemant Soren.

PM Narendra Modi, former President Pranab Mukherjee, chief ministers Mamata Banerjee, Uddhav Thackeray, Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel, Kamal Nath and Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and P Chidambaram were among prominent leaders who were invited to grace the swearing-in ceremony.

Jharkhand caretaker Chief Minister Raghubar Das had earlier said that he will attend the oath-taking ceremony of new chief minister Hemant Soren to be held today. Hemant Soren, accompanied by leaders of alliance partners -- the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) -- staked claim to form the government in Jharkhand on December 24. The JMM-Congress-RJD alliance won the Jharkhand assembly elections with 47 seats, making JMM the single-largest party in the state.

Those attending the event are:

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Bhagel, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav, RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav and Congress's RPN Singh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former President Pranab Mukherjee, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal were invited to grace the swearing-in ceremony at 2 pm on December 29 at Mohrabadi ground in Ranchi.

Besides, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, DMK president MK Stalin, CPI leader Kanhaiya Kumar are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Hemant Soren on Sunday at Morabadi ground in Ranchi.

Rajya Sabha deputy chairperson, Harivansh is also in the long list of invitees as is the outgoing chief minister Raghubar Das, Bhattacharya said that several leaders have already given their consent to attend the historic occasion.

PM Modi has, however, expressed his inability to attend the ceremony due to his busy schedule.
