New Delhi: Within the Congress party these days, the party is struggling to elect the next president. Rahul vs Sonia Gandhi has started within the party for the post of President.

Meanwhile, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi has come out in support of her elder brother and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, in which Rahul had said last year that the next Congress president should be made a person outside the Nehru-Gandhi family.

Party President not from Gandhi family:

According to media reports, Priyanka Gandhi said in an interview that Rahul Gandhi said that none of us should be the president of the party and I completely agree with this. Priyanka said that I think the party should find its way. Priyanka also said that there is no problem in working with the president outside the Nehru-Gandhi family.

Taking responsibility for the Congress defeat in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, Rahul Gandhi resigned from the post of Congress President. After this, Sonia Gandhi was once again given the command of the party in the meeting of the Congress Working Committee and she was made the interim president of the party. However, in this meeting also Rahul had talked about making someone outside the Gandhi-Nehru family as president.

On 10 August, Sonia Gandhi's term has ended. After which a new president is being sought for the party. While many party leaders want to see Rahul Gandhi back as president, on the other hand there are many leaders who have stood in favor of making Sonia Gandhi the president. Meanwhile, after Priyanka Gandhi's statement came out, the question has once again arisen that whether the next Congress president will be outside the Gandhi family?
