SP leader Gayatri Prasad Prajapati gets bail in gang-rape case

Amethi: Samajwadi Praty candidate Gayatri Prasad Parjapati, on Monday, said that he has full confidence in the people of Amethi district and that he is assured of his win with a wide margin of votes.

Prajapati while interacting with mediapersons after casting his vote here, stated that he is confident of Samajwadi Party coming to power again under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav. "I am winning with a huge margin and Samajwadi Party Govt under Akhilesh ji will be in power again," said Prajapati.

Amethi has a tough yet interesting competition as apart deciding the fate of the controversial SP candidate, the district would be witnessing the royal fight between two queens of the country. Amita Singh (assembly candidate from Congress) and Garima Singh (BJP's candidate) belong to the royal families of the state and are contesting the elections against each other. They also casted their votes in the fifth phase of the polls.

It could be mentioned that Gayatri Prasad Prajapati is an accused in the gang-rape and sexual harassment case which has been against him filed a week ago after the Supreme Court directed the Uttar Pradesh police to do so.

The Apex Court had also asked the Uttar Pradesh government to file a report of the entire matter within eight weeks.

The case has been lodged under the relevant sections of gang-rape and POCSO Act.

The controversial minister is also facing corruption charge which is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The apex court was approached for the stay in this case too but it refused to intervene. It found the case fit to be investigated by the agency.
