Raipur: In a master stroke against nepotism, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday announced that his wife and Kannauj MP Dimple Yadav will never contest elections in future.

He made the declaration while answering reporters' question related to dynasty politics in his party.

"There is no nepotism in SP, and if there is some, my wife will never contest elections in future," said Akhilesh at the Swami Vivekanand Airport in Raipur where he has gone to attend the Yuva Yadav Mahasabha as chief guest.

He also pointed out that he still shares cordial relations with Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi who recently sparked a debate over nepotism in India while speaking at the California University in Berkeley.

Ridiculing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Akhilesh Yadav said, "People who do politics in the name of cow and buffalo dung, are talking about digital India."

"Our government have expressways and highways to Uttar Pradesh while PM Modi has been busy giving useless speeches around the world. I don't think the Centre would be able to realise the dead of Raipur Metro as our PM is more focused on the development of Gujarat," he added.

He also slammed the Uttar Pradesh government for misgovernance.

"The kind of development Yogi ji is giving to UP can be observed through the recent incidents in the state, said Akhilesh Yadav, adding, "I will continue to come to Raipur again and again for SP's expansion in Chhattisgarh."
