Lucknow: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has scored many firsts and spent a winter night on a city street, does not play the second fiddle in one more area—salary.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has raised his salary on Wednesday three times on the eve of election but still he is far below him. His critics believe that he has done it to keep his voters in good humour.

Kejriwal’s salary, in fact, is higher than even those of the President and Prime Minister. While the former gets only 1.5 lakh per months and latter ten thousand rupees more, Delhi chief minister receives Rs 3.6 lakh.

Akhilesh was much poorer in his comparison with only Rs 12ooo per month so far. With the latest decision, there will be a slight raise in his emolument--- Rs 40,000 from Rs 12,000.

In comparison to Tamil Nadu chief minister, however, the amount is not small. For, Amma does not a penny as salary. Bihar chief minister who has been advocating prohibition in all the states has not cut down his salary.

He receives less than only Kejriwal—Rs 99,500 per month. It is not yet clear why he has left out Rs 500 and not joined the Lakhpati group.

Payments made to some other CMs:

  • Maharashtra- Rs 57,000
  • West Bengal- Rs 8,000
  • Tripura- Rs 9200 (He lives in kutcha house and his wife is still a teacher)
  • Karnataka- Rs 30,000
  • Rajasthan- Rs 25,000
