New Delhi: Congress Vice-president Rahul Gandhi who expected a relief from the Supreme Court has been disappointed . He has to face the criminal defamation case in the lower court if he would not like to apologise for his remark against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the court said on Tuesday.

The two-judge bench of Justice Dipak Mishra and Justice Rohinton Nariman commented if he thinks that he has not done anything wrong he should face the trial.

An FIR was lodged against Rahul for his statement holding RSS responsible for assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in Bhiwandi in Maharashtra. He had appealed to the Court against it.

Ealier, the court had rejected an appeal by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and some others to scrap criminals defamation act.
