Country's development depends on villages: Rajnath Singh
Lucknow: Emphasizing the development of villages in India, the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that more than 70 per cent of the Indians lived in rural areas and the country’s development depended on the evolution of villages.
“The Modi -- led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has launched many schemes to benefit the farmers and their impact is quite apparent as 300 villages have been chosen to be transformed into smart villages,” Singh said while inaugurating the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s crop insurance awareness programme at the Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research in the state capital of Uttar Pradesh.
What else did Singh say:
- Making smart villages is an important initiative taken by the Centre.
- The central government had launched an agricultural television channel for the farmers.
- The centre had distributed Soil Health Cards to around one crore farmers of Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
