Varanasi: The Congress party, on Tuesday, ahead of Sonia Gandhi’s rally, admitted that they need a miracle to win the Uttar Pradesh State assembly elections.

As the members gathered to welcome Sonia Gandhi at Lal Bahadur Shastri airport in Varanasi, the state party chief Raj Babbar said while addressing media persons that the party will hope that some miracle begins today during Sonia’s road show in the city.

"Yes we need a chamatkaar (miracle) in Uttar Pradesh but it has happened in the past too, even 2014 elections were a miracle for our opponents and we are hoping there will be a miracle this time too," said Uttar Pradesh Congress Chief.

Dard-e-Banaras rally:

  • According to the Congress the rally has been organized to highlight the lack of development in the VIP constituency of Prime Minister Modi.
  • The Congress chief will begin her 6.4 kilometers road-show through the city post-lunch and will address the rally at the end of it.
  • Sonia Gandhi will visit the famous Kahi Vishwanath temple before leaving the city.
  • The INC chief is expected to launch attack on PM Narendra Modi and the BJP government in her Dard-e-Banaras (the pain of Banaras) rally.
