Congress launches 2019 polls campaign slogan ‘Ab hoga NYAY’

The Congress party promised that if elected to form the next government, it would implement a Nyuntam Aay Yojana, which will transfer Rs 72,000 as cash income annually to the bottom fifth of the poorest families.

New Delhi: Congress on April 07, launched its 2019 Lok Sabha Election campaign slogan ‘Ab hoga NYAY’.

Announcing that the Congress campaign will be centered around 'Nyay', senior Congress leader Anand Sharma said the word not only alludes to the party's proposed minimum income guarantee scheme but encompasses justice to all sections of the society.

Although, the ambitious scheme 'NYAY' was initially included in Congress's 55-page manifesto which was launched on April 02, which stands for 'Nyuntam Aay Yojana'. But now the acronym NYAY has also acquired its literal meaning which is 'justice'. Under this 'NYAY' the “injustice” called acute poverty will be tackled, possibly for the first time by promising a direct transfer of cash.

The Congress party promised that if elected to form the next government, it would implement a Nyuntam Aay Yojana, which will transfer Rs 72,000 as cash income annually to the bottom fifth of the poorest families.

Rahul Gandhi says that the NYAY scheme will be his priority and that it will file 22 lakh vacancies by March 2020. The Congress manifesto also promises 150 days of guaranteed work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Guarantee Act, as opposed to the previous 100. It adds that it will eliminate poverty by 2030 through NYAY.

The theme song is penned by Javed Akhtar and the campaign video has been filmed by Nikkhil Advani.

Big container trucks fitted with screens will take the Congress's message to various parts of the country, a source said.
