Cong and AAP may have alliance in Haryana assembly elections

Assembly elections are going to be held soon in Haryana. Meanwhile, speculations are being made that Aam Aadmi Party and Congress (AAP Congress) can once again contest the elections under an alliance. However, talks are going on between the two on seat sharing. According to reports, Aam Aadmi Party wants to get at least 10 seats out of 90 seats in Haryana, while Congress wants to give only 7 seats.

The year 2013 was the year when Aam Aadmi Party contested the Delhi Assembly elections for the first time and emerged as an alternative to BJP and Congress. AAP emerged as the second largest party after BJP. Aam Aadmi Party got a chance to form the government.

At that time, Congress supported AAP from outside to form the government. However, this government could last only for 49 days. Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post of CM in February 2014 over being prevented from presenting the Jan Lokpal Bill. After this, elections were held again.

In the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, AAP and Congress parted ways. Both contested the Lok Sabha elections separately and lost all the seats in Delhi. All 7 seats in Delhi went to BJP's account. Both did not get even a single seat.

In the 2015-2020 assembly elections, both AAP and Congress contested as opponents. In both the elections, the Aam Aadmi Party won a spectacular victory. On the other hand, Congress could not even open its account.

Aam Aadmi Party and Congress once again joined hands to defeat BJP in the year 2023. Both the parties became part of the India Alliance to defeat BJP in the elections.

The friendship of AAP and Congress was seen once again during the Chandigarh Mayor election of 2024. Both the parties fielded a joint candidate for the Chandigarh Mayor election. After the intervention of the Supreme Court amid the rigging of the Returning Officer, their candidate Kuldeep Singh was declared the winner.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, both the parties contested the elections in alliance in Delhi, Gujarat and Haryana.

There were many ups and downs between the two parties, but the bond of friendship between them did not break. Ultimately, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, both the parties decided to form an alliance in Delhi, Gujarat and Haryana. In Delhi, AAP fielded candidates on 4 seats and Congress on 3 seats. In Gujarat, Congress fielded candidates on 24 and AAP on 2 seats. In Haryana, Congress contested on 9 and AAP on 1 seat, but by the time it reached Punjab, both became strangers once again. In Punjab, both the parties became opponents of each other and contested the elections separately.
