Ashok Gehlot on Friday tweeted, 'Love jihad is a term coined by the BJP to divide the nation and disturb communal harmony. Marriage is a matter of personal liberty, bringing a law to curb it is completely unconstitutional and this law will not survive in any court. Jihad has no place in love. '

Gehlot said that marriage is a personal decision and BJP is curbing it. He said, 'They are creating an environment in the nation where people who give mutual consent will be under the mercy and power of the state. Marriage is a personal decision and they are curbing it, which is like snatching personal freedom. '

Accusing the BJP of disturbing communal harmony, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. He said "It is like spoiling communal harmony, promoting social struggle and defying the constitutional provisions of the state." While the state does not discriminate against citizens on any basis.
