BJP spreads communalism on RSS's directives: Mayawati

Jhansi: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Saturday blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of spreading communalism as per the directives given by Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS).

Addressing an election rally here, the BSP chief said, "BJP has no ethical right to appeal for votes as it had failed miserably in delivering good governance in the state last time it was given a chance."

"The Amit Shah-led party functions as per the directives given by RSS and if it comes to power in UP, it will only spread communalism as it has been doing in the other BJP-ruled states," she added.

She also attacked Congress claiming that the Sonia Gandhi-led party has been vanished from several states across the country just because of its wrong and anti-poor policies.

Mayawati targeted Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government in the state on several issues, including poor law and order, a steep rise in crimes and alleged irregularities in recruitment processes in various departments.

Attack on Samajwadi Party:

  • SP government has promoted crimes in the state by protecting the criminals.
  • The crimes against women have risen significantly under Akhilesh's regime.
  • The SP goons have illegally grabbed the lands of poor.
  • SP is making false claims of development while all their poll promises are yet incomplete.
  • The SP government has failed in managing the huge population of Uttar Pradesh.

Blaming the other parties of managing the media houses to show doctored opinion polls on television, she asserted that BSP has got most number of votes in the first and second phases of UP polls, and her party was going to form a majority government in the state.

"BJP and Samajwadi Party are fighting with each other for the second position in the elections," she said.

It may be mentioned that Jhansi is scheduled to go for polls in the fourth phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on February 23.
