BJP spent whopping amount of 4,343 crore on publicity: RTI
Total expenditure of 4,343.26 crore was incurred on advertisements in the print and electronic media as well as outdoor publicity.
New Delhi: The Modi government has spent 4,343 crore on advertising and publicity since it came to power in May 2014, an agency under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting revealed after an Right to Information (RTI) was filed by Anil Galgali.
Total expenditure of 4,343.26 crore was incurred on advertisements in the print and electronic media as well as outdoor publicity.

Total expenditure spend by BJP government on various media platform:
#Advertisements in the print media: 1732.15 crore on (from June 1, 2014, to December 7, 2017).
# Electronic media: 2079.87 crore (from June 1, 2014, to March 31, 2018).
#Outdoor publicity: 531.24 crore (June 2014 to January 2018), it said.

The expenditure details were provided by Tapan Sutradhar, Financial Advisor, Bureau of Outreach Communication, on publicity campaigns from June 2014.
“Print media include newspapers, magazines, while electronic media covered TV, Internet, radio, digital cinema, SMSs etc. Outdoor publicity included posters, banners, digital panels, hoardings, railway tickets etc,”he said in his reply.
The Bureau of Outreach Communication was formed from the merger of three media units of the I&B Ministry to ensure “credible, consistent and clear communication” by various Ministries and organisations of Government of India.
The RTI was filed by a city-based RTI activist Anil Galgali.
