Orai: Swami Prasad Maurya, former Bahujan Samaj Party general secretary, who recently joined the Bhartiya Janata Party is of the firm belief, unlike others, that Kanshi Ram died under mysterious circumstances.

Talking to media persons here, on Friday he alleged that it was not a 'natural death'. Founder of the BSP died in October 2006.

“The BJP will order an inquiry into his death if it comes to power in the state following elections next year”, he announced.

Maurya who rebelled against BSP chief Mayawati and who has recently resigned from the state assembly claimed that as many as 12 members of his parent organisation has expressed desire to join the organisation he is in now.

Declining to disclose their names he said, “it is premature to do so. Let the time come you will know their names.”

Confident of the BJP victory in the state next year, he further claimed that his party’s main rival was the Samajwadi Party and that the BSP would rank third in the state.

Maurya has made a number of allegations against Mayawati after leaving her party including the one that she “ sold “ party tickets during elections. Ḥe has also charged her with amassing huge wealth and purchasing properties in different parts of the country including Delhi.

He may be nursing a grudge against her because the BSP has initiated action against him under the anti-defection law. The party has written to the assembly speaker to disqualify him as member as he left his parent organisation and joined another party alone and not with two-thirds members of the party as is required to get out of the anti-defection net.
