BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj receives death threat over phone

Etah: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Unnao, Sakshi Maharaj, on Friday received a death threat over phone from an unidentified man.

The BJP parliamentarian approached the Unnao City Kotwali to lodge the complaint.

The police has registered the complaint against the anonymous person and has launched the probe. The home ministry has also taken the matter in cognizance.

According to the sources in the police department, the threat call was made through internet and the police is on a lookout for the culprits.

Sakshi in his complaint has said that the caller abused him as well a few top BJP leaders while threatening to kill him if he does not stop advocating Hinduism, said Unnao City Circle Officer, Hradesh Katheria.

The complaint says that the caller has claimed that he would kill Sakshi with a bomb attack after March 11, the date of counting of votes and declaration of results of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

It may be mentioned that the BJP MP is known for delivering controversial speeches. He recently, stroked a fresh controversy by asking Muslims to cremate the dead bodies instead of burying.

"There should be a law made for no graveyards in the nation. There should only be common crematorium grounds," said Sakshi Maharaj on February 27 in Etah.
