Bihar Political Crisis: Rahul Gandhi talks to CM Nitish Kumar

Patna: As the Grand Alliance in Bihar is apparently on the verge of collapse, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday reportedly held talks with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to know the future course of action on the demands of sacking of Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav over corruption charges.

The reports of talks between the Grand Alliance members came after Nitish Kumar spoke over the incident for the first time in a while.

According to a leading English daily, Rahul Gandhi talked to Nitish over the ongoing internal tiff within the Grand Alliance. Both of them, however, refused to reveal the content of their discussion.

But the daily claims that Nitish has clarified his stand and Rahul has shown agreed to support him. So far, Congress has been looking more inclined towards Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), but after talks with Nitish, the political equations in the state may change.

Earlier in the day in Tuesday, Nitish Kumar said he is committed to his ‘zero-tolerance’ policy against corruption, and asked Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tejashwi to present his clarification over the corruption charges with facts.

According to the media reports, the Bihar government is likely to take decide the fate of Tejashwi Yadav in next four to five days. RJD, however, has reiterated that there is no chance of Deputy CM's resignation.

The sources in Janata Dal-United have informed that in Tuesday's party meeting, most of the legislators of the party suggested Nitish not to stay mum over the issue, as the corruption charges on the Lalu Yadav family is sending out a wrong message about the government in public.

After the meeting, Nitish Kumar suggested Tejashwi Yadav to meet people and tell them why they should not pay heed to the charges imposed by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on him and his family.
