Lucknow: Barring a few incidents, the first phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections passed off peacefully in 73 constituencies spread across 15 districts, which recorded about 65 per cent voting.

The polling started on Saturday at 7 in the morning and concluded at 5 in the evening.

As per the official figures available with the Election Commission, the voter turnout this year was five per cent above what it was in 2012 (59.40 per cent).

The highest voting percentage was recorded at the Fatehabad constituency (71.18 per cent) in Agra, while Gautam Budh Nagar remained lowest at 51.00 per cent.

The district-wise polling percentage as compared to 2012 Assembly elections are as under:
