Lucknow: After marriage weight gain is a common problem in India and many other parts of the world. But did you know that putting on weight (or even losing few pounds) can affect your 'sex life' largely.

Yes, it does affect your confidence leading to a poor performance while in the bed. We, however, do not claim that you sex life sucks if you are fat, but it does diminish the pleasure of both the partners.

Being overweight doesn’t mean that you would be a poor performer in the bed. But it is a proven fact that extra weight brings down your energy and motivation, which will eventually affect your sex life.

As per the experts, there can be self-consciousness or limiting beliefs about your ability or desire when you are overweight.

Some extra kilos can easily take a grip over your mind by distracting you from focusing on your body parts you love. It just takes off your attention from the body parts that enrich confidence in you and drags the spotlight only on the parts you do not like.

The higher your weight, the higher levels of chemical called 'Sex Hormone Binding Globulin' (SHBG) is present in your body. This chemical binds to the sex hormone testosterone. And when there's too much testosterone bound to SHBG, there's not enough available to stimulate desire.

  1. It makes 'orgasm' less pleasurable

Overweight decreases blood flow to the genitals. The extra kilos narrow-down the blood vessels making it impossible to reach a pleasurable orgasm. It, however, doesn’t mean that being thin makes it more pleasurable. You have to be fully fit for the best orgasm of your life.

  1. It bring insecurity

When you put on extra weight, it starts ticking in your mind that you are not able to please your partner in the bed. This feeling stops you from expressing yourself completely leading to less pleasurable sexual encounters.

This can be avoided if you can only concentrate on the things that your partner loves being done on him/her. It will transform you into a pleaser and you will be able to satisfy your partner without thinking much about your body.
