Lucknow: Calling Samajwadi family feud as unfortunate, SP leader Amar Singh said that party members should support Mulayam Singh Yadav after the surprise expulsion of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav for six years on Friday.

"I request to the party members to stand by Netaji. Whatever is happening is very unfortunate,” said Amar Singh.

Soon after the announcement of the expulsion, Akhilesh supporters have gathered outside his residence and began protest against Shivpal and Mulayam.

What else Amar Singh said?

  • It was Mulayam Singh Yadav who laid party’s foundation with much dedication and hard work
  • I would reiterate that Mulayam Singh is the chief of SP and the father of Akhilesh Yadav as well.

It is an open secret that Amar Singh and Akhilesh never went along well. So much so that Akhilesh had dubbed him as an ‘outsider’ who is out to harm the party.

Earlier, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav expelled Akhilesh and Ram Gopal over indiscipline. “It was me who made him the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh despite opposition from all quarters in the party and family. No father has done so much for his son what I did in 2012,” Mulayam had said.
