Lucknow: Setting the speculations at rest, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday made it clear that he was not going to contest the UP Assembly polls 2017.

In a meeting with the party bearers, the UP CM said that he will not contest the elections from any constituency as he is already a Member of Legislative Council (MLC) and his tenure will end in 2018.

Refuting the reports of contesting the elections from Lucknow's Sarojini Nagar constituency, AkhileshYadav said, "A section of media has wrongly mentioned that I will contest the elections from Sarojini Nagar seat, which is not true."

Earlier, there were reports that the UP CM is going to contest the elections from Lucknow and is very confident of emerging victorious.
