Akhilesh Yadav should resign as Samajwadi Party chief: Shivpal Yadav

Fatehpur: Former Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Shivpal Yadav on Sunday asked party chief Akhilesh Yadav to fulfill his promise and give up the party leadership immediately.

Talking to the media persons at a private function here, the former SP state chief said, "Three months ago while taking over the reins of Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh had promised to step down if party loses the UP Assembly polls. Now, it is the high time for him to give up the post for his father Mulayam Singh Yadav."

"SP suffered massive poll debacle under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav in 2014 Lok Sabha polls and 2017 assembly polls. It’s my advice for him to reunite the entire Yadav clan and work together for the party. This is the only way possible to remove the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the state," he added.
