Lucknow: Outgoing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav has been authorised by the party to appoint the leader of opposition in the Uttar Pradesh assembly.

A decision in this regard was taken by the Samajwadi Party legislative party meeting on Thursday. The announcement of the opposition leader will take place on March 25.

Apart from discussing about the leader of opposition, the legislators also, unanimously, put up a demand for re-polling in the state through ballot system.

Senior leader of the Samajwadi Party Azam Khan also alleged that the EVM machines were rigged and there should be re-polling in the state.

What Azam Khan stated:

The EVMs where VVPAT system was used show that only 2 to 4 votes went in favour of the BJP while the result describes a completely reversed picture. This proves that some manipulation took place with the machines and it should be probed.
